Building Trust and Credibility in Your BusinessIn today’s society, people are growing more and more skeptical of salespeople. This means that you are going to have to work just that much harder to effectively communicate with your business prospects. You must build trust with them if you want them as your customer. This takes time, patience and great effort on your part and you must be up for the challenge. Some people are easier to win over than others.

This is where you need to give them something in return. You need your potential customers to trust you. Building your business requires great integrity. This should not be an act but a genuine character trait. You just don’t want to appear trusting to your potential customer. You want to assure them that you are who you say you are and you can do what you say you’ll do.

Each of us has some degree of skepticism, after we’ve been burned a few times it becomes much tougher to sell us anything, especially if we’ve already been down that path and found it did not work as advertised.

Here are some things you can do to gain the trust of your potential customers:

• After your first conversation, make sure to do a follow up phone call to let your potential customer know that you have not forgotten about them and are interested in their business

• Ask them about their interests and see how you can tailor your products toward their interests

• Make them feel comfortable. Conversation is key

• Talk is cheap. Show your potential customers what you’re made of

• Always be on time

• Always be cordial

• Be enthusiastic about your business

These are just a few tips that will help you land that potential customer and keep them. We all know that people enjoy feeling special and feeling like you’re really listening to what they have to say. This will keep them as your customer and if you have their trust and you’re credible, they will stick with you.

If you find that the above things are difficult for you to do. You may want to get yourself a success coach. Someone that can help you enhance your communication skills and show you how you can grow your business. Being Trustworthy and credible is something that is earned.

You must honor your word and your commitment to your customers. If you are nonchalant and carefree about your business, chances are your potential customers will not answer the phone the next time they see your number on their caller I.D.
