When used correctly positive customer reviews can be used to grow your business. They lend credibility to what you have to offer to the marketplace and make you more trustworthy to new customers. When new visitors come to your website, they’re happy to see that actual, living people have used your products and have positive things to say about it. As a result, they’re far more willing to do business with you. Let’s look at how to use reviews to grow your business significantly.

Gathering Reviews

First and foremost, you’ll need to gather reviews. I go in-depth on this subject in another article, but essentially if you wish to generate a lot of reviews quickly, you need to set up multiple accounts on review sites such as
Angie’s List and Yelp. Then automate the process by sending out email sequences that request a review.

Requesting a review quickly allows you to get the most honest response from your customers because the experience is still fresh in their mind. I highly encourage you to read my article on gathering reviews for more details.

Featuring customers on your website

Your website will be your greatest asset when it comes to growing your business with customer reviews. Your website is essentially the online face of your business. It’s where your customers come to shop, learn more about your brand, and ultimately determine whether or not they wish to do business with you.

Featuring customer reviews on your website will provide the validation potential customers may need if they’re on the fence about becoming a customer. Keep in mind that this tactic may not be the best option for every business.

Some customer bases may not appreciate being featured on your website’s homepage. For example, this would be a terrible tactic for an adult website. However, if your customer base consists of entrepreneurs and marketers, there’s a good chance they would love the idea of being posted front and center on your website.

Optimizing Your Website for Reviews

As you’re optimizing your website for customer reviews, you must be willing to step back and take an objective look at your website. Here are a few considerations you need to keep in mind:

  • Are people able to easily find reviews on your site?
  • Do people know it’s possible to leave a review?
  • Are people able to easily leave reviews?
  • Is your site optimized for mobile devices and if so, are customers able to easily leave reviews from their mobile devices?
  • Do you publish only good reviews or the bad ones too? You’re bound to piss off a few people, and not posting their experiences will make you appear to be unauthentic.

Optimizing your website for reviews ultimately comes down to your ability to make the review process as easy for your customers as possible. That means your customers should be able to leave a review on your website without much effort on their part. They should also be able to find reviews on your products and services without having to dig around to find them.

Using customer reviews  advantageously to grow your business…

Ultimately, you need to get into the habit of asking for reviews from your customers. Reviews are powerful because they use the voice of others to verify the authenticity of your products and services. Learn to master reviews, and don’t be surprised if your business begins to grow exponentially.
