What is Ganoderma?
Ganoderma is a fungi that basically pop up in decaying woods. They could either grow in hardwood species or conifers. They contain enzymes that sanction them to break down some wood components like cellulose and lignin.

Origin and History of Ganoderma
Ganoderma derives its name in the Greek word ganos which means “brightness” or “sheen” because of its bright and shiny outer part. Petter Adolf Karsten named this genus in 1881. At first, the Ganodermataceae family members are hard to classify. However, the genus was classified into two divisions according to their cap surface. Those with shiny caps are called Ganoderma and those possessing dull caps are called Elfvingia. These mushrooms has many species.
